College Student Assistance Program

The nation’s first comprehensive Student Assistance Program (SAP) designed specifically for the college student is now available. Students experiencing physical and emotional problems while at college can get help through this program. Information about this program can be found at http://www.reconnectingu.com/.  Another helpful website related to this kind of assistance is http://www.campusblues.com/

Career Information

As students prepare for higher education, they should also consider their career plans. Three questions they should consider are the following. What do I want to have? What do I want to do? What do I want to be?

In order to answer these questions, students take a self- administered career assessment called the Self-Directed Search (SDS) developed by John Holland. Holland’s theory is that all career choices are based on knowledge of one’s personality that influences one’s choice. Students can then use the information generated by the SDS to find compatible occupations and college majors related to those occupations.

Information related to the career search process can also be found on the internet. One valuable website to visit is http://www.florida.echoices.com/
